Kodak Patch Codes

The symbol encoder generates the patch codes that Kodak document scanners recognise to separate batches and to switch scanning modes.

Uses:

  • Separator sheets that assign an image level to a document in a batch, or that switch between bi-tonal and colour scanning.

Standards: Kodak A-61599, Patch Code Information for Kodak Scanners.

Data and Options

  • The data field accepts one of the following values:
    • patch1 - Patch 1
    • patch2 - Patch 2, which assigns image level 2 to the current document
    • patch3 - Patch 3, which assigns image level 3 to the current document
    • patch4 - Patch 4, the toggle patch
    • patch6 - Patch 6
    • patcht - Patch T, the transfer patch, which assigns the predefined image level to the next document
  • The symbol is drawn at its specified size: bars and spaces 0.08 or 0.20 inches wide, 0.80 inches in all, with bars 2.5 inches long. Scanners require the bars to be parallel to the leading edge of the document and at least 0.25 inches from other printing.
