DPD Parcel Label

The DPD Parcel Label barcode is a Code 128 barcode on the parcel labels of the DPD (Geopost) parcel carriers that carries the destination postal code, the tracking number, the service code and the destination country.

Uses:

  • Routing and tracking of parcels by the DPD group.

Standards: Geopost Barcode & Label Layout Specification (GeoLabel); DPD Parcel Label Specification, whose section 6.1.2 describes the relabel.

Data and Options

  • The data field is the 27 characters that follow the identification tag, optionally preceded by the tag. The tag is % unless it is given:
    • The destination postal code, seven characters padded on the left with zeros.
    • The tracking number, a four-digit range code and a ten-digit parcel number, the first two characters of which may be letters.
    • The three-digit service code.
    • The three-digit destination country or network code.
  • The postal code and the first two characters of the tracking number may be upper case letters or digits. The remaining characters are digits.
  • The human readable text is the data in groups, followed by its ISO/IEC 7064 MOD 37,36 check character, which is not encoded in the barcode.
  • The relabel option creates the barcode of a relabel, which has no identification tag and half the height.
  • The default height is one inch, or half an inch for a relabel. The X-dimension of the specification is from 0.375mm to 0.5mm, or to 0.4mm for thermal printing, and the height 25mm, or 12.5mm for a relabel.
