- Usual agenda
- Reminder that we have items for REVIEW - WCAG 2 proposed changes (due by May 20). Those are listed below and available on the Project Board under column Sent for WG approval.
Briefly discussed Tweak G13, on-input understanding, F37 #4291 as all the previous edits have been committed. Moved to Fully reviewed.
Tweak understanding for 1.2.3 and 1.2.5 #1790 remains as the parent conversation thread and will stay under For Discussion until other PRs are resolved.
Closely relatedly, Audio description failure technique #4390 has had additional feedback from AWK and updated since our previous review. See new Technique F113: Failure of Success Criterion 1.2.5 due to not using available pauses in dialogue to provide audio descriptions of important visual content. Moved to Ready for Approval, assuming no additional additional concerns from AWK.
Discussed Update synchronized-media.html #4371 at length and group worked on phrasing to allow for multimedia experiences where sound and audio might not be played exactly at the same time. Stays in Drafted.
Ken flagged Note #4166 and #4055 in Techniques change log #4391 for an update to the change log, adding information. Moved to Ready for Review.
Discussed Update term "contrast ratio" for SC 1.4.11 #1018. Group agrees with concept of making more general, but we need to proceed a little more cautiously. Dan flagged that the background/foreground note, even for text, is very dated and not correct. The antialiasing note is also suspect, as well as the implied assumptions about CSS. As an example, Dan shared SVG shape rendering. Patrick volunteered to trim this PR down to just a minimal change. Stays in drafted.
Discussed Change "alternate" to "alternative" #4368 briefly on backlog call 5/16. Agreement that alternative better alternate, but concern that there might still be too many replacements with conforming alternate version being the canonical term. Stays in Drafted.
Discussed Update ARIA11 #1023. Group agreed that update valuable, but we ran out of time to resolve if "each landmark region" was equivalent/better to "same type of landmark". Stays in Drafted.
Patrick asked if Note about purely decorative "video only" / "audio only" content in 1.2.1 #4398 would be valuable. Group agreed it is.
Updates proposed and implemented by the WCAG 2 Task Force, providing a two-week window for Working Group members to review non-normative WCAG 2 updates, and consists of changes in several categories.
In addition to the non-normative changes in the sections below, the Task Force has identified a normative change for the Working Group. This is listed here to initiate a normative review process. It will be added to an upcoming call, and if the attending working group members are in general agreement, it will go through a CFC process.
Remove periods from end of definitions #4359
Changes that do not meaningfully alter informative language in a normative document.

Changes that meaningfully add or alter existing non-normative guidance.
Add link to NIST SP 800-63B 2nd public draft to 3.3.8 / 3.3.9 understanding #4351
Small improvements to language intended to clarify existing guidance.
