## Description Finishes hardening the GitHub Actions workflows. Closes #592. - Pin every remaining tag-referenced action to the commit SHA of the release it resolved to, with a `# vX.Y.Z` comment: `actions/checkout` v7.0.1, `actions/setup-go` v7.0.0, `golangci/golangci-lint-action` v9.3.0, `codecov/codecov-action` v7.1.1, `azure/setup-helm` v5.0.1, `peaceiris/actions-gh-pages` v4.1.0 (go.yml, chart-test, k8s-test, slinky-test, helm-release). Each SHA was verified against the tag ref, with annotated tags dereferenced, and each floating major tag resolved to the same commit as its latest release. - Correct the checkout pin comment in `release.yml` and `docker.yml`: `3d3c42e5…` is v7.0.1, not v5.0.1. - Every `actions/setup-go` step reads `go-version-file: go.mod`. The `Dockerfile` still pins its own `golang` builder image (bumped by Dependabot's docker ecosystem); `DEVELOPMENT.md` now says it must move with `go.mod`. - New `workflow-lint.yaml` on `ubuntu-latest`: - Runs on pushes to `main` and `pull-request/<n>` that touch `.github/**`, weekly (Mondays 07:30 UTC, clear of Scorecard), and on `workflow_dispatch`, so zizmor's online audits catch new advisories against pinned actions. - **actionlint 1.7.12** is blocking. `.github/actionlint.yaml` declares the self-hosted runner labels used by the other workflows and ignores `unexpected key "queue" for "concurrency"`: `concurrency.queue` is documented in GitHub's workflow syntax but actionlint does not know it yet (needed by the companion `assign.yaml` PR, #603). Drop the ignore once actionlint supports it. The shellcheck and pyflakes integrations are off in CI for deterministic results; `DEVELOPMENT.md` gives the matching local command. - **zizmor 1.31.1** uploads SARIF to code scanning (category `zizmor`), like `scorecard.yaml`, and is non-blocking for now; the accepted findings are listed in the workflow header and below. - Both tools are release binaries pinned by version and archive SHA-256, verified in the workflow. They are bumped by hand; automated tracking is proposed in #591. - Findings fixed without behavior change: - Template injection in the Helm index steps of `helm-release.yaml` and `release.yml`: `github.repository_owner` and `github.event.repository.name` now come in through `env:`. - `fern-docs-preview-comment.yml` uses `$GITHUB_REPOSITORY` instead of expanding `github.repository` in the script. - `k8s-test.yaml` passes the KWOK model path through `env:`. - Cache poisoning in `publish-fern-docs.yml`: `package-manager-cache: false` on setup-node. There is no package.json, so caching was never active. - Shellcheck SC2046: quoted the `fern-api@$(...)` argument in the three Fern workflows. - zizmor findings accepted for now (follow-up needed before zizmor can block): - `dependabot-cooldown` x3 (`dependabot.yml`) - `adhoc-packages` x3 (`npm install -g fern-api` in the Fern workflows) - `dangerous-triggers` (`workflow_run` in `fern-docs-preview-comment.yml`, part of the two-workflow preview design) - `superfluous-actions` (`softprops/action-gh-release` in `release.yml`) - Refresh the CI Parity section of `DEVELOPMENT.md` to describe the workflows that exist today, and mention workflow lint in the `CONTRIBUTING.md` "What's checked" list. - Not included: moving govulncheck and go-licenses to `go.mod` `tool` directives (from #592) was intentionally left out; their version tracking is covered by #591. No change to what any existing job builds, tests, or publishes; the env refactors expand to the same strings as before. Validated locally: actionlint passes on all workflows (also with shellcheck enabled), zizmor reports only the accepted findings above, and `grep -rE 'uses: [^ ]+@' .github | grep -vE '@[0-9a-f]{40}'` returns nothing. ## Checklist - [x] I am familiar with the [Contributing Guidelines](./CONTRIBUTING.md). - [ ] New or existing tests cover these changes. - [x] The documentation is up to date with these changes. - [x] All commits are signed off per DCO (`git commit -s`).
CONTRIBUTING.md asks contributors to claim an issue before starting work, but assigning one needs triage access, so a claim stays a plain comment until a maintainer assigns it by hand. Add a workflow, ported from NVIDIA/nodewright, that handles /assign, /assign @user and /unassign comments on issues. It keeps a single owner per issue, reads only the first line of the comment as the command, reads assignees fresh from the API, serializes commands per issue, and replies when a command is refused or GitHub silently drops a non-assignable user. It triggers on issue_comment, runs on a GitHub-hosted runner in the upstream repository only, never checks out code, and holds only issues: write on the job. Two fixes over the original port: the per-issue concurrency group sits on the job with queue: max, so a later comment no longer cancels a pending command; and the non-assignable check compares logins case-insensitively, so /assign @octocat is not reported as a failure. Both match what nodewright later adopted upstream. The port intentionally omits the work-in-progress claim limit nodewright added in #877; that is a policy choice for maintainers. Document the commands in CONTRIBUTING.md. Closes dsx-ai-factory#598 Signed-off-by: Brian Lockwood <lockwobr@gmail.com>
…nment The per-issue concurrency group serializes /assign commands, but not assignments made in the UI or by other tools. If someone was assigned between the workflow's fresh read of the issue and its addAssignees call, addAssignees kept that assignee and added the target as well, because the API adds without replacing. The issue then had two owners and the workflow reported success. After addAssignees, compare the returned assignees (case-insensitively) against the target. When anyone else is now assigned, remove only the user this run added, leave the other assignment untouched, and reply that the issue was assigned while the command ran so /assign was not applied. A target missing from the response is still reported as not assignable. Signed-off-by: Brian Lockwood <lockwobr@gmail.com>
…yone The addAssignees response cannot say who added each assignee, so a maintainer may have assigned the same user this command targeted. Backing out the target could undo the maintainer's choice. Leave every assignee in place, warn, and reply asking a maintainer to decide who keeps the issue. Signed-off-by: Brian Lockwood <lockwobr@gmail.com>
/unassign only ever releases the commenter's own claim, but "/unassign @Someone" reads as naming someone else and silently released the commenter instead. Refuse a mention and reply that /unassign takes no user. Signed-off-by: Brian Lockwood <lockwobr@gmail.com>

Description
Lets contributors claim an issue themselves instead of waiting for a maintainer to assign it. Assigning an issue needs triage access, which outside and fork-based contributors don't have, so today a claim is only a comment until someone assigns it by hand.
Adds
.github/workflows/assign.yaml, ported from NVIDIA/nodewright:/assignassigns the commenter, only if the issue has no assignee. Free text after the command on the same line (/assign I'll take this) is still a claim by the commenter./assign @userassigns the named user, only if the issue has no assignee. It must be alone on the first line; a mention mixed with other text, or several mentions, is refused with a reply saying why./unassignremoves the commenter, only if they are assigned; nobody can release someone else's claim.cc @maintaineron a later line never changes who is assigned. The command is matched case-insensitively and must be the first word, so/assign-foodoes not match.Security: triggers on
issue_comment(always the base repository's context), never checks out code, contents: readat the top level andissues: writeonly on the job,actions/github-scriptpinned by SHA. It runs on a GitHub-hostedubuntu-latestrunner (asscorecard.yamldoes), since any GitHub user can trigger it by commenting, and only in the upstream repository. Assignees are read fresh from the API, and commands are serialized per issue through a job-level concurrency group, so ordinary comments never queue. Two fixes over the nodewright original, both of which nodewright later adopted upstream:
queue: max. With the default single pending slot, a newer run cancels a pending one and the command is lost./assign @Octocatisn't reported as a failure when GitHub returnsoctocat. The work-in-progress claim limit nodewright added later (NVIDIA/nodewright#877) is intentionally left out; it is a policy choice for maintainers.
Note: actionlint (v1.7.12) doesn't recognize
concurrency.queueyet and reports it as an unknown key; the key is documented in GitHub's workflow syntax reference. The companion PR #601 adds an actionlint ignore for it.CONTRIBUTING.md now documents
/assignand/unassignwhere it describes claiming an issue.Closes #598
