This is careful work. Resumable downloads with If-Range, a client that never carries the driver token, magic-byte and length checks, crash-safe swaps, and broad tests. The licensing and attribution are handled too. Two follow-ups, not blockers. The "will retry" note also shows for INVALID_FILE, which isn't retried for 24h, so a misconfigured URL looks like a network blip. And a plain-http map URL loops on release builds. Please test on a real low-end device before release.

The last Phase 3 piece: the tracking screen now draws the trip over a real street map that works with no signal. Once the driver signs in, the app downloads the agency's map file from the URL #138 added, keeps it on the phone, and checks once a day whether the agency has published a newer one. With no
MAP_PMTILES_URLthe map stays as it is today, on a plain background.How it works, one commit each:
LocationComponent.applyStyle()quietly resets the map's padding, so since feat(android): draw the trip on a map in the tracking screen #133 the vehicle dropped to the middle of the map whenever it left or rejoined the route. It now stays a third of the way up.GET /api/v1/mapwhere the file is, and downloads it in the background on any connection, with a small "Downloading map" note on the map until it is done.android/map-style/generate.mjsand committed with the fonts and icons it needs, so the build needs no Node. It adds 0.5 MB to the APK (now 20.75 MB).Why some of it is the way it is:
noBackupFilesDir. The app is backed up to the cloud, and a map over Android's 25 MB backup limit would stop everything else from being backed up.RangeandIf-Range, use their own HTTP client so the driver's token never goes to the file's host, and are checked before use: the first bytes as they arrive, then the file's own header against its length.Street labels are Latin-only for now: English names, or the local name when it's written in Latin letters. Showing local scripts like Hindi or Marathi needs a font for each script, about 6.6 MB each, so I'd do that as a follow-up, maybe downloading the fonts with the agency's map file. Happy to change course if you'd rather. The generator is also the repo's first Node project; if you'd rather not have it, I can replace it with a README that lists the steps.
Testing: 318 unit tests (95 new), and each safety rule above has a test that fails when I break the rule on purpose. On the emulator with a local server and file host: first download with the note, a download cut off and resumed from where it stopped, airplane mode, an update, the URL removed, a full phone, dark mode, the R8 release build, and the 17 instrumented tests. I have not tried it on a real low-end phone yet.
