Why we want this. Every guard in here started as something the protocol trusted without checking; the list is written from our incidents, which means it is shaped by our luck.

• a guard for a failure mode not in the current seven
• a test that shows it red on the broken protocol
• one paragraph on the incident (yours or hypothetical) that motivates it
