That reserves the whole [...] namespace for later extensions such as colour directives, so a format that works today keeps its visible text when those land. README, the release note and the command help described the rejecting behaviour and are updated with the mini-language: placeholders, missing-value text and the backslash escapes. The prompt now reads the live SnowflakeConnection captured after each successful query, so USE and a reconnect both show on the next prompt without a connection-cache lookup that can redial. cli.prompt_format is read from config.toml only, through the new get_config_value_without_env helper, so no SNOWFLAKE_CLI_PROMPT_FORMAT environment variable gets reserved for a template full of brackets and newlines. Token matching is case-sensitive: only lowercase \n is the newline escape, so \N stays literal instead of being swallowed as an unknown token. Placeholder names stay case-insensitive because they are resolved by lowercased name. Reported tokens go through the same sanitiser as rendered values and are written to stderr, keeping the REPL transcript on stdout clean.
