Overview

Track the work required to make the Radius deployment engine modern, composable, and usable consistently from CI/CD systems, GitOps controllers, and agents.

This initiative covers:

  • Supported deployment integration with GitHub Actions
  • Pull-based deployment through GitOps and Argo CD
  • Portable deployable artifacts
  • Dry-run / "what if" deployment plans
  • Stable deployment primitives for agents and automation

Outcomes

  • Radius applications can be built independently from the environment where they are deployed.
  • GitHub Actions and Argo CD use documented, supported Radius contracts.
  • Users can inspect expected deployment changes before resources are mutated.
  • Agents can build, plan, deploy, and monitor applications without parsing human-oriented terminal output.
  • Artifact, plan, and operation formats are versioned, machine-readable, and safe for automation.

Completion criteria

  • Each capability is covered by an approved specification or an implementation issue with testable completion criteria.
  • GitHub Actions and Argo CD reference supported Radius deployment contracts.
  • A portable artifact can be produced and deployed in separate processes.
  • A deployment plan reports expected changes without mutating deployment state.
  • Agent-facing operations expose structured results, errors, and status.
  • End-to-end documentation demonstrates the supported CI/CD, GitOps, and agent workflows.
