[GIT-11] Deploy app on Cloudflare Workers - #12
Conversation
📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughThe application now targets Cloudflare Workers through Vinext, replaces eager Firebase initialization with lazy accessors, updates API routes to use those accessors, adds Worker-specific Shiki handling, and synchronizes the design document into public assets. ChangesCloudflare Workers migration
Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~45 minutes Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to This PR moves deployment to Cloudflare Workers, but webhook deliveries can still be terminated before retries finish, which may drop events; merge should wait for a fix or explicit owner acceptance. The deployment instructions also leave bounded risks around build-time URL configuration, AI secrets, and validating the generated Worker configuration. Sequence Diagram(s)sequenceDiagram

Full details: Linked Issues checkExplanation The changes address the Cloudflare Workers migration, remove Netlify configuration, add Vinext and Worker configuration, defer Firebase initialization, use Firestore REST transport, synchronize design.md, and provide deployment documentation. However, the provided evidence does not confirm Firebase authentication and Firestore access in the Workers runtime or a workers.dev canary deployment. The route smoke test also does not name the verified routes. Full details: Out of Scope Changes checkExplanation The changes are related to the linked issue. The Firebase accessor updates, Shiki server stub, dynamic client authentication loading, webhook delivery change, and bundle configuration support Workers compatibility or deployment constraints. No clearly unrelated change is shown. Full details: Docstring CoverageExplanation Docstring coverage is 28.79% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. When a Cloudflare Worker invokes
dispatchWebhookEvent, the function startsfetchand retry promises but returns without registering them withExecutionContext.waitUntil. The Worker may terminate them after the response, so webhook events can be lost. Pass the execution context into this function and callctx.waitUntil(Promise.allSettled(deliveries)), or await the deliveries.🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Add server-side AI keys to Worker secrets.
When users do not provide BYOK, src/lib/ai/providers.ts uses ANTHROPIC_API_KEY or OPENAI_API_KEY, but the Worker deployment steps provision neither. Add the configured provider key(s) so AI routes do not return NO_API_KEY or use their no-key fallbacks in production.

Set NEXT_PUBLIC_APP_URL before the build.
The deployment commands build before they deploy, but the checklist sets this build-time value afterward. Set it before npm run build:vinext; update the GitHub App homepage after deployment.

Vinext Cloudflare generated dist/server/wrangler.json wrangler deploy --config documentation
💡 Result:
The command wrangler deploy --config dist/server/wrangler.json is a standard way to deploy a Cloudflare Worker using a specific configuration file [1]. In the context of vinext (a framework for running Next.js on Cloudflare Workers), this command is frequently used in CI/CD pipelines [1] or internal deployment logic to point Wrangler to the project configuration generated during the build process [2][3]. Key details regarding this workflow: 1. Context: vinext automatically generates a wrangler.json or wrangler.jsonc file (often inside a dist/ directory) as part of its build process to define how the application should run on Cloudflare Workers [3][4]. 2. Deployment Command: The wrangler deploy command instructs the Cloudflare Workers CLI to upload your project [5]. By passing the --config flag, you explicitly tell Wrangler which configuration file to use, overriding the default expectation that the file resides in the root directory [1][6]. 3. Automation: If you are encountering issues where a deployment script expects dist/server/wrangler.json but it does not exist, it may indicate that the build step responsible for generating that configuration failed or was skipped [7]. Ensure that you have run the necessary build command (e.g., vinext deploy or the build script configured in your package.json) before attempting to execute the deployment command [3][8]. 4. Best Practices: Cloudflare recommends using wrangler.jsonc for new projects as it supports advanced configurations [6]. While older workflows may use wrangler.json, the structure and the --config flag remain functional in current versions of Wrangler [6]. If you are automating this, you can run vinext deploy directly, which handles the orchestration of building the project and executing the deployment using the generated configuration automatically, rather than manually invoking wrangler [3][9].

Run the dry run with the generated Vinext configuration.
After npm run build:vinext, run npx wrangler deploy --dry-run --config dist/server/wrangler.json. The bare command uses the root wrangler.jsonc, so it can validate different Worker and asset settings than deploy:vinext.

Closes #11
What
Why
GitMarkdown needs one supported Cloudflare deployment path. The previous runtime file route failed in Worker builds, and Firebase Admin cannot use its default gRPC transport in Workers.
How I verified
npm run build -> passed
npm run build:vinext -> passed
npx tsc --noEmit --incremental false -> passed
npx wrangler deploy --dry-run -> 2,072.54 KiB compressed
local Worker route smoke test -> four routes returned 200
shasum -a 256 public/design.md .agents/design.md -> hashes matched
PR size check -> 500 counted lines
Proof: n/a — deployment behavior changed, but the rendered interface did not.
Full source lint still reports 62 inherited errors outside this change. Credentialed Auth and Firestore acceptance require the production secret values.
