I'm Henry, a software engineer based in California.
I started in backend engineering, building APIs, databases, automation pipelines, and full-stack tools that solve real problems.
My current focus is the transition from backend systems to embedded systems, where software meets hardware and small design decisions can affect real-world behavior.
My main tech stack includes Java, Python, C/C++, JavaScript/TypeScript, Spring Boot, Django, React, Node.js, Docker, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
Lately, I’ve been spending more time with ESP32, Raspberry Pi, Embedded Linux, MQTT, sensor systems, firmware, and hardware debugging.
Some things I’ve worked on:
- WasteShark — an autonomous lake-cleanup robot with real-time telemetry, MQTT pipelines, object detection, motor control integration, and a cloud dashboard.
- IoT Inventory System — an ESP32-based inventory monitoring system using load cells, embedded C++ firmware, signal filtering, and real-time stock tracking.
- MyBetterScheduler — a course-planning app used by 750+ SJSU students, built from my backend/web development roots.
Fun Facts:
- I’m from Stockton, California
- I love lifting and powerlifting
- I started in backend, but embedded systems pulled me in
- I like projects where software has to survive real-world constraint
