Summary

  • migrate the server from FastMCP to the public MCP SDK 2.0 MCPServer API
  • pin mcp==2.0.0 and keep direct dependencies within supported major versions
  • refresh uv.lock, remove build-only packages from runtime dependencies, and bump the fork to 1.3.0
  • add CI for Python 3.10, 3.12, and 3.14
  • add an actual STDIO client test for the Codex 2025-06-18 handshake and tools/list

Why

freshdesk-mcp 1.2.0 declared mcp[cli]>=1.3.0 but imported mcp.server.fastmcp.FastMCP. A fresh install now resolves MCP SDK 2.0, where that module no longer exists, so the server fails during import.

Validation

  • 6 targeted tests pass on Python 3.10, 3.12, and 3.14
  • STDIO initialize negotiates 2025-06-18
  • tools/list returns 59 tools and prompts/list returns 2 prompts
  • wheel and sdist build successfully
  • no Freshdesk API operation was performed
