Installation
- Node-RED 2.0.0 or later
- Node.js 12.0.0 or later
- Access to the machine running Node-RED, or to its palette manager
- Open the Node-RED editor
- Menu → Manage palette → Install tab
- Search for
node-red-contrib-timer-threshold - Click Install
The node appears in the function category as Timer Threshold.
From your Node-RED user directory (typically ~/.node-red):
npm install node-red-contrib-timer-thresholdThen restart Node-RED.
Drag a Timer Threshold node onto a flow, wire an inject node to its input and a debug node to output 1 (Trigger), and deploy. With the default configuration (3 messages within 15 minutes, fixed window), clicking the inject button three times should show the count climbing in the node's status label and fire the Trigger on the third click.
Better still, import a ready-made flow: Import → Examples → node-red-contrib-timer-threshold lists four packaged example flows. Start with basic-usage — it is walked through step by step on Examples: Basic Usage.
Upgrade through the palette manager, or from the user directory:
npm update node-red-contrib-timer-thresholdBehavioral changes between versions, if any, are documented only in Release Notes.
One upgrade-related note: if you use the Resume on deploy/restart
option, the node stores state files in a timerthreshold-timers
subdirectory of your Node-RED user directory. These files are managed
entirely by the node — created, updated, and removed as needed — and
survive upgrades. Details in Persistence.
