Addresses low-hanging fruit from DebugBear speed test (score: 93% Crux / 74% Lab).

Changes:

  1. Remove intro animation — opacity:0→1 on #main and .page__hero was hiding H1 content for 1.71s, directly delaying LCP. This was the document migration from maxandersen to jbangdev package sources #1 recommendation.

  2. Convert homepage images to WebP — ~488KB total savings:

    • Hero bg-1: 345KB → 78KB
    • carbon-deps: 57KB → 12KB
    • carbon-install: 52KB → 12KB
    • carbon-java: 49KB → 8KB
    • feature-appstore: 126KB → 48KB
    • feature-ide: 104KB → 40KB
  3. Lazy load below-fold content — loading=lazy on feature row images and YouTube iframe (~1MB of YouTube scripts deferred until scroll)

  4. Defer highlight.js — Was render-blocking; now loaded with defer and CSS with media=print swap trick

Expected impact: Faster FCP/LCP (content visible immediately instead of after 1.71s animation), ~500KB smaller initial page weight, ~1MB less third-party JS on initial load.

- Remove intro animation (opacity:0→1) from #main and .page__hero
that was hiding H1 content for 1.71s, directly delaying LCP
- Convert homepage images to WebP: hero bg-1 (345KB→78KB),
  carbon-deps (57KB→12KB), carbon-install (52KB→12KB),
  carbon-java (49KB→8KB), feature-appstore (126KB→48KB),
  feature-ide (104KB→40KB) — total savings ~488KB
- Add loading=lazy to feature row images and YouTube iframe
(~1MB of YouTube scripts deferred until scroll)
- Defer highlight.js loading (render-blocking → non-blocking)
