I'd like to have an option to dim only windows on current (focused) display (i.e. where the active window/cursor is).
Motivation
Dimming all visible windows on all desktop is distracting in two separate use cases:
I have one large display and a laptop display. When working on the laptop display, dimming windows on the large screen is distracting.
Sometimes I teach/present things. When one display/projector is shared/visible to others while the others aren't, switching windows on the "private" displays dims windows on the projected display as well, which is distracting to the audience.
Detailed Description
I can imagine one "border case" where focus is switched to a different display. In that case I'd prefer the behavior to be consistent with the summary, i.e. only windows on the active display being dimmed. The "original" display that was focused before should remain unchanged/undimmed.
A "border-border" case might be when there are multiple windows on the active display and moving cursor to a different display causes focus switch on the active display before the cursor is moved to another. In such case the first active display will dim inactive windows. This is acceptable but it would be great if the dim was cut off and restored the moment the display becomes inactive.
