Customer Summary

  • Every repository maintained by wbfy will now tell AI agents that AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, GEMINI.md, .cursor/rules/general.mdc, and .gemini/styleguide.md are generated files, and that AGENTS_EXTRA.md is the only file to edit for agent instructions.
  • This prevents agents from hand-editing generated files whose changes would be lost on the next wbfy run.
  • The line appears in each repository after its next wbfy run; no action is required from repository owners.

Technical Summary

  • Adds one bullet to the General Instructions template in packages/wbfy/src/generators/agents.ts, placed right after the .tmp bullet and before the conditional instructions.
  • Regenerates this repository's own AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, GEMINI.md, and .cursor/rules/general.mdc so they carry the new line.
  • The wording matches the existing rule in docs/expected-repository-rules.md.

Why

  • Agents frequently edited CLAUDE.md directly, and wbfy silently overwrote those edits on its next run.
  • Stating the ownership rule inside the generated files themselves reaches every agent that reads them.

Testing

  • bun run verify passed.
  • bun test test/unit/agentInstructions.test.ts in packages/wbfy passed.
  • CI passed on the merged head.

Summary of Changes

Hello, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request updates the generated agent instructions to ensure that contributors and automated agents understand the correct workflow for modifying configuration files. By centralizing the source of truth to AGENTS_EXTRA.md, it prevents potential conflicts and manual effort loss caused by automated overwrites.

Highlights

  • Instruction Update: Added a clear directive to the generated agent instructions specifying that AGENTS_EXTRA.md is the single source of truth for agent configuration.
  • Prevention of Overwrites: Explicitly warned agents that multiple generated files are overwritten during every wbfy run, preventing accidental manual edits.
New Features

Code Review

This pull request updates the generated agent instructions in packages/wbfy/src/generators/agents.ts to clarify that several documentation and configuration files (such as AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, etc.) are auto-generated from AGENTS_EXTRA.md and overwritten on every run, directing developers to only edit AGENTS_EXTRA.md. There are no review comments, and I have no additional feedback to provide.
