Summary

Adds a bug-report form so reports include the details needed to reproduce a problem.

Description of the change

Requires a complete minimal reproducer, full error messages or observed output, and environment details. The form also asks for expected versus actual behavior and explains how to collect PyTorch environment information.

Targets the default branch because GitHub loads issue forms from there.

Fixes #1248.

Validation

Validated the form against the issue-form JSON schema and checked that all four required fields start empty. Confirmed that the suggested environment command runs locally. GitHub's rendered form still needs verification after merging.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "Add required bug report issue form" matches the main change. The PR adds .github/ISSUE_TEMPLATE/bug_report.yml, a bug-report form with required fields for a reproducer, error output, and environment details. The title is short, specific, and accurate.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description states that the PR adds a bug-report form that requires a minimal reproducer, full error messages or observed output, and environment details. It also covers expected versus actual behavior, the environment command, the default-branch target, the linked issue #1248, and validation steps. This matches the changeset and the linked objectives.

Full details: Linked Issues check

Explanation

Issue #1248 requires a complete minimal reproducer script, full error messages, and environment details. The new .github/ISSUE_TEMPLATE/bug_report.yml marks the reproducer, error/output, and versions fields as required. The reproducer field requests a minimal self-contained script. The error field requests the full traceback or observed output. The versions field requests the package version or commit, installation method, and python -m torch.utils.collect_env output. CONTRIBUTING.md also updates the bug-report environment command to the same command. The change satisfies the coding requirements in the available file evidence.

Full details: Out of Scope Changes check

Explanation

The whole-PR diff changes only the bug-report form and the related bug-report guidance in CONTRIBUTING.md. The checklist, reproduction instructions, output requirements, environment command, and closing text support Issue #1248. No unrelated code or documentation change appears.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

No eligible functions found in the changed files. Skipping docstring coverage check. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 0 functions across 0 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)

Require the reproducer and observed output separately.

The form is new, so there are no fields to restore. Its required bug-description textarea can still be submitted without a reproducer or observed output because the guidance is not validation. Add separate required fields for the details required by the linked bug-report objective.

Suggested fix
     validations:
       required: true

+ attributes:
+ label: Minimal reproducer
+ description: Provide a complete, minimal, self-contained example.
+ validations:

+ - type: textarea
+ attributes:
+ label: Observed output

+ validations:
+ required: true
   - type: textarea
     attributes:
       label: Versions

Do not require explicit id values for GitHub submission. The GitHub schema marks them optional, and no repository automation requirement is established here. Separate expected-versus-actual fields are not supported by the inspected objective or current form wording.

Thanks a lot @AkilsuryaS. I adjusted the template to the Pytroch bug template.

Replace the stale print_env.sh instruction in CONTRIBUTING.md.

The bug report form requires reporters to review CONTRIBUTING.md. That guide tells them to run structured-data-models/print_env.sh, which is not in the repository. The form's "Versions" field asks for python -m torch.utils.collect_env output instead, so reporters receive two different instructions. Update the guide to match the form.

Location: CONTRIBUTING.md:9-10

Suggested fix
- - Please run and paste the output of the `structured-data-models/print_env.sh` script while
+ - Please run `python -m torch.utils.collect_env` and paste its output while
reporting a bug to gather and report relevant environment details.
