[Question]: Multiple different node versions #1690

Closed

Description

@ryohei-kamiya

What is your question?

The versions of Node being used differ in the following three files.

  • .devcontainer/docker-compose.yml
  • Dockerfile
  • Dockerfile.multi

More Details

I think it's generally better to have matching runtime versions, but as listed below, they differ. Is there a specific reason for using different versions?

  • .devcontainer/docker-compose.yml
    -> node v19 ( node:19-bullseye )
  • Dockerfile
    -> node v18 ( node:18-alpine )
  • Dockerfile.multi
    -> node v20 ( node:20-alpine )

What is the main subject of your question?

Screenshots

I have confirmed that in my forked repository, it works in devcontainer with Node v20( node:20-bookworm ).

↓Test

fix-node-version_ad-hoc-test_20240131.mp4

I needed to reinstall the packages, but since npm run reinstall did not install them as expected, I reinstalled them using the following steps.

/workspaces# rm -rf node_modules/ packages/data-provider/node_modules/ packages/data-provider/dist/ client/dist/ api/node_modules/
/workspaces# cd packages/data-provider/
/workspaces# npm install
/workspaces# npm run build
/workspaces# cd ../../client
/workspaces# npm install
/workspaces# cd ..
/workspaces# npm install
/workspaces# npm run frontend:dev

After executing the above, I opened another virtual terminal and executed the following.

/workspaces# npm run backend:dev

If it seems necessary, I will submit a pull request.
