Why
Kong/volcano-actions#25 (merged 2026-10-23) lets the review cancel its own runs for heads a PR has moved past. Its
startjob asks foractions: write, and a called workflow cannot hold more than its caller grants. Callers without the grant fail at startup with no jobs, which leaves the requiredai-review/*checks unset and blocks every PR. The volcano-actions README listsactions: writefor both callers; Kong/volcano-monitoring#79 made the same fix. What
Grant
actions: writeinai-review.ymlandai-review-retarget-override.yml, matching the README.Validation
This PR's own AI Review runs the base branch's workflow (
pull_request_target), so it fails at startup here and needs an admin merge. The fix shows on the next PR after merge.🤖 Generated with Claude Code
