When cline --version is executed with its output redirected to a pipe (as happens in the compatibility check's subprocess call), Cline enters a slow mode that takes approximately 30 seconds to complete. The compatibility check had a default timeout of only 5 seconds, causing it to time out and display the version error.

Safe to merge. The Cline timeout override reaches the compatibility check, while version rejection and failure handling remain intact.

Summary

Raises the Cline version-check timeout from 5 to 40 seconds so slow checks can finish.

  • Cline’s version check can wait up to 40 seconds.
