Updated: 2026-09-08 for v2.19 Use for Chrome Web Store title, short description, long description, screenshot captions, and release notes.

Positioning

Smart TOC & Scroll is a lightweight reading navigation extension for long articles, blogs, and documentation pages.

It provides two navigation types:

  • Standard TOC Panel: full outline, active-section highlighting, quick heading jumps, and a compact Top action.
  • Barcode: a transparent edge rail with subtle hover feedback and low-intrusion scroll-to-top. Choose Nearby, Search, or a pinnable Margin outline.

Smart TOC & Scroll adds lightweight reading navigation to long articles, blogs, and documentation pages.

It gives you two navigation types for different reading contexts:

  • Standard TOC Panel: a full outline with active-section highlighting, quick heading jumps, and a compact Top action.
  • Barcode: a transparent progress rail for immersive long-form reading, with three task-specific styles:
    • Nearby: shows the target heading and one neighbor on each side, with three reused labels and no moving track.
    • Search: filters page headings locally using one or more keywords; arrow keys select results and Enter jumps to the section.
    • Margin: a pinnable outline beside the article, with wrapped titles and a single red location accent.

Privacy Note

Smart TOC & Scroll does not upload page content or collect browsing history. Outline detection and interactions run locally, and preferences are stored in the browser.

Release Note — v2.19

Improves compatibility and reduces interference with the page: isolated extension styles, unchanged article anchors, faster startup scans, lighter theme observation, and reliable SPA and back/forward restoration. Removes redundant permissions, limits automatic injection to HTTP/HTTPS, and clarifies local processing and Chrome Sync preferences. Requires Chrome 111 or later.

进一步降低对网页的干扰：隔离扩展样式，不再修改文章标题锚点，减少启动重复扫描和主题监听，改善 SPA 与前进/后退缓存恢复。移除冗余权限，仅在 HTTP/HTTPS 网页自动运行，并明确本地处理及 Chrome Sync 设置同步说明。最低支持 Chrome 111。

Release Note — v2.18

Reading styles now have distinct jobs: Standard for occasional jumps, Nearby for neighboring sections, Search for keyword lookup, and Margin for pinned reference. Wheel and Spotlight merge into Nearby with existing preferences preserved. Search is local, supports multiple keywords and keyboard navigation, and includes an empty state. Long titles wrap in full outlines. Removed the moving title track and per-heading wave updates; Nearby reuses only three labels.
