thread safety question

Hello! I have a question about thread safety,

According to: https://libpqxx.readthedocs.io/stable/thread-safety.html we have:

Treat a connection, together with any and all objects related to it, as a "world" of its own. You should generally make sure that the same "world" is never accessed by another thread while you're doing anything non-const in there.

Does connection here refer to a pqxx::connection object ? Or does it refer to the connection string passed to pqxx::connection's constructor?

Meaning if I have many threads and some of them possibly use the same string to construct different pqxx::connection objects do I need to worry about thread safety?

It is safe to use the same connection string in multiple threads.
That section explains that the pqxx::connection object itself, as well as objects created through pqxx::connection (such as pqxx::row), are not thread-safe.

@jtv in the short term does that mean what @tt4g outlined is correct? It's thread safe to use the same connection string with multiple pqxx::connection provided that each pqxx::connection is only used within one thread?

Yes absolutely @tsr-boxbot — @tt4g is correct. Two separate pqxx::connection objects act like completely separate "worlds" for threading purposes, even if the connection strings are identical.
