Think about visual feedback about current mode (through flashing leds)

The current set of flashing led patterns is a mixed bag, sort-of happened by accident. Hunting for wifi flashes orange, AP mode has a pattern, config mode and ota mode have a pattern, some boards have their own private modes (for example iotsaDoorOpener to show feedback on last keyfob used), sometimes there's an external way to influence the LED (BLELed, iotsaNeoClock). And each pattern will override the previous one. And there are no patterns for "mode requested".

It would be good if we rationalised this. And even better if we did so in a way that patterns could be "added" on top of each other.

Also, iotsaNeoClock has an alert mechanism where external parties can cause timed color patterns to happen by sending web or REST requests. These can either be specified as sequences of colours and durations, or as a name (where the color/duration sequence is then read from a file with that name). Something like this would be a nice addition for our externally-triggered patterns.

Oh yes. Having a "breathing" effect is nicer than hard-on, hard-off. But only if it isn't too much work/code to implement.
