The current set of flashing led patterns is a mixed bag, sort-of happened by accident. Hunting for wifi flashes orange, AP mode has a pattern, config mode and ota mode have a pattern, some boards have their own private modes (for example iotsaDoorOpener to show feedback on last keyfob used), sometimes there's an external way to influence the LED (BLELed, iotsaNeoClock). And each pattern will override the previous one. And there are no patterns for "mode requested".
It would be good if we rationalised this. And even better if we did so in a way that patterns could be "added" on top of each other.
