Compatibility Report

Game is playable out of the box with latest experimental ACO Mesa Drivers (I tried it first with a few weeks older driver from the same PPA and the game did not even launch).

• Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Works
• Videos work
• Solid performance with no stuttering
  
  This is maxed quality settings at 1600p with ACO

Remaining (minor) issues

• With Adaptive vsync option enabled (in games options) the fps tanks to single digits (like literally 1-3 fps).
• Switching between desktop and fullscreen mode is not perfect, trying to switch back to fullscreen the Cinnamon desktop task bar remains is visible. (my guess is cinnamon specific issue or that the game does not handle 16:10 resolutions perfectly).
  
  (this is with Fullscreen option (not borderless)

EDIT: Using Proton 4.11-13 the game works, but if you use a Logitech Wheel (G29) the game crashes at Start and shows error reporting dialog.. This is the log:

I don't know if @aeikum could take a look to the wheel problem

Compatibility Re-test Report

I can confirm with Proton 5.0-4 the game does not start, Steam just says that the game is running but nothing happens.

With Proton 4.11-13 the game works but with the same issues as mentioned in my previous report.

Hello @leillo1975, @AwesamLinux, can one of you check if Proton 5.0-3 is affected? It has temporarily been made available as a beta branch of Proton 5.0 in Steam.

There's some other games which hit a regression in Proton 5.0-4 and this may be another example of the same regression.

@kisak-valve , you are right. I used 5.0-3 (beta) and the game starts, but have the same problem with the wheel. With Steam Contoller works good... but is very difficult to control a Rally car with this device

I re-tested this with a newer driver too (20.1.0-devel (git-cfa299e 2020-03-12 bionic-oibaf-ppa))

@aeikum , Thanks a lot, the game works with the new 5.0-5. But using my G29 wheel, it continues crashing and showing the error reporting window.

Can also confirm the game crashes when a G29 is connected.
Can't get Proton to generate a log for it, and their own log seems useless, except for:

    <ExceptionAddress>0x7fdb16301e35</ExceptionAddress>
    <ExceptionModule>C:\windows\system32\dinput8.dll</ExceptionModule>
    <ExceptionModuleBase>0x7fdb162e0000</ExceptionModuleBase>
    <ExceptionType>11</ExceptionType>

so, the crash happens in dinput8.dll and it seems to be a segfault.
(wish i could get it to make a proper stacktrace)

Addition:
installing dinput8 through protontricks does not work.
Setting dinput8 to native and the game won't start at all, at native/builtin or builtin/native its just the same crash.
