History page title does not reflect current mode on first entry

Description

When entering the “History” page, the top title shows “History”, but the current display mode is actually “Last Played”, which seems inconsistent.

This page has two display modes:

• Last Played
• Most Played

After switching modes once, the title updates correctly.
But the initial state remains inconsistent every time the page is entered.

Reproduction

1. Click “History” to enter the page.

2. Observe the title on the top bar:

   • The top bar shows “History”
   • But this area seems to represent the current display mode, which is actually “Last Played” now
   • So the title should display "Last Played" to match the current mode.

3. Click the mode switch button (currently showing “Most Played”):

   • The top title changes from “History” to “Most Played”
   • The button text changes to “Last Played”

4. After that, the title correctly reflects the current mode. But the top bar should not change its semantic role depending on interaction.

5. Exit the “History” page and enter it again (no need to restart the app), the issue can still be reproduced.

The title on the top bar should reflect the current/initial mode ("Last Played") when entering the page.

Actual behavior

The title shows "History" instead of the current/initial mode.

This only affects the UI initial display and does not affect functionality.

NB: This only happens if you go to History from the sidebar. If you have a History tab on your main page, this bug cannot be reproduced (for me, anyway)

Btw what is refactor branch behavior, would you please check! I remember Commenting a long time ago on migrate watch history to Jetpack Compose PR but can't recall the context and whether it is relevant here or not!

I can confirm that this issue occurs when opening the History page from the sidebar (see screenshot below).

History tab

I also tested the History tab on the main page.

To access it:
Settings → Content → Content of main page

After accessing it, a new History tab appears on the main page.

In this case:

• The top bar always displays "History"
• It does not reflect the current mode ("Last Played" / "Most Played")

Hi everyone,

Just following up on this issue.

Would you consider this a UI bug / inconsistency that should be fixed?

Also, is anyone currently working on it?

From my understanding, the main issue is that the top bar has inconsistent behavior depending on how the History page is opened:

• Sidebar entry: the title changes between page name and sort mode
• History tab on main page: the title consistently shows "History"

The different behavior between the two entry points may be understandable, but the current 'Sidebar entry' behavior seems inconsistent.

If this issue is considered worth fixing and nobody is working on it, I’d be happy to work on it.
